  • or more Mackerel
    4 unit
  • chopped fresh bay leaves
    2 unit
  • cloves
    6 unit
  • blade of mace
    1 unit
  • of fresh thyme
    1 sprig
  • chopped onion
    1 unit
  • peppercorns
    10 unit
  • salt
    1 unit
  • malt vinegar
    1 unit

Method

Clean & scale fish, place in dish large enough for fish & vinegar.

Mix other ingredients, except vinegar, with salt to taste, & cast over fish.

Pour over sufficient vinegar to cover well.

Place in moderate oven for 40 to 50 minutes.

Lift fish carefully onto serving dish, strain liquor over.

Let cool & serve.
