Ingredients

  • Chicken breast (you can also do this on the bone if you wish)
    500 g
  • Toor dal (just go for green lentils if you can't find any)
    300 g
  • Fresh or minced ginger
    1 unit
  • garlic cloves

  • onions
    3 medium
  • red pepper
    1 unit
  • orange or yellow pepper
    1 unit
  • potato
    1 large
  • chopped tomatoes
    3 unit
  • lime (juice of)

  • tamarind paste
    1 tablespoon
  • tin of pineapple rings in their own juice (optional)

  • bunch coriander (that's what you loyal allies of the Crown call cilantro)

  • jaggery (substitute for dark brown sugar if you can't get jaggery)

  • sunflower oil or butter/vegetable ghee if you can get it (we ran out of ghee so used oil)
