Chill a cocktail glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.

Squeeze fresh lemons to yield the required amount of lemon juice, then strain out any seeds or pulp.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes, ensuring it is about two-thirds full for proper chilling and dilution.

Measure and pour the gin into the shaker, followed by the fresh lemon juice and vermouth.

Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold.

Discard the ice water from the chilled glass, then double-strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer into the glass to remove ice chips.
