Prepare the pie crust according to package directions and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan, allowing it to slightly overhang the edges.

Combine brown sugar, cornstarch, orange peel, nutmeg, and cardamom in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.

Add fresh blueberries and orange juice to the sugar mixture and gently toss until the berries are evenly coated.

Pour the blueberry filling into the prepared pie crust, mounding slightly in the center.

Dot the filling with butter or margarine pieces distributed across the surface.

Fold the overhanging pie crust edges inward and crimp them decoratively to create a rustic border.
