Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes using an electric mixer.

Beat in molasses until fully incorporated, then add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, ground cloves, mace, nutmeg, and allspice in a separate bowl.

Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, then stir in raisins and chopped nuts until evenly distributed.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
