Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cream together softened unsalted butter and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Beat in the egg, egg yolk, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and baking soda to combine dry ingredients.

Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; do not overmix.

Stir in semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased or parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
