Apple Muffin Mix

A great morning starter. Tuck this mix into a wooden apple basket lined with a coordinating napkin. Dried apples can usually be found in airtight pouches near the raisins in the supermarket.

Combine self rising flour, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl, stirring until evenly blended.

Add chopped dried apple to the flour mixture and stir until the apple pieces are evenly distributed throughout the dry ingredients.

Transfer the muffin mix to an airtight container or resealable bag for storage, ensuring all ingredients are well combined.

To prepare muffins, combine ½ cup of muffin mix with ⅓ cup milk and 1 beaten egg in a small bowl until just combined with no lumps, being careful not to overmix.

Preheat oven to 400°F and prepare a muffin tin with paper liners or by greasing the cups.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about three-quarters full.

Bake for 12-15 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean and the tops are golden brown.
