Dissolve the yeast cake in warm water with a pinch of sugar and approximately 1 tablespoon of flour, stirring until combined. Set aside in a warm place for 10-15 minutes until foamy.

Whisk together the 2 whole eggs, 2 egg yolks, and ½ cup sugar in a large bowl until pale and thick, about 3-4 minutes.

Stir in the foamy yeast mixture and mix thoroughly.

Gradually add the 7 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt to the wet ingredients, mixing and kneading until a smooth, elastic dough forms, about 8-10 minutes by hand.

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1-1.5 hours.

Shape each portion into a tight round loaf or traditional braided kalacs form, depending on preference.

Place the shaped loaves on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover loosely with a damp cloth, and let rise again for 30-40 minutes until puffy.
