1.1 hands (5 inches, 13 cm)

50px Template documentation

This template converts the height of a horse (or pony), measured in hands, to the equivalent heights in inches and centimetres.

Important: any decimal part is interpreted as being in inches, not as a decimal fraction of a hand. Hence '14.2 hands' means 14 hands, 2 inches, not 142/10 hands.

The optional parameters include: abbr=on to show "h" (or abbr=hh to show "hh"), r=2 to round inches/cm to 2 decimal places, rinch=2 to round inches, or rcm=1 to round cm to 1 decimal.

Usage:

  • {{hands|14.2}} → 14.2 hands (58 inches, 147 cm)
  • {{hands|14.1+3/4}} → 14.1+34 hands (57.75 inches, 147 cm)
  • {{hands|15.3|lk=off}}    → 15.3 hands (63 inches, 160 cm)
  • {{hands|15.3|abbr=hh}} → 15.3 hh (63 inches, 160 cm)
  • {{hands|14.1+1/3|rinch=1}} → 14.1+13 hands (57.3 inches, 146 cm)
  • {{hands|14.1+1/3|r=1}}     → 14.1+13 hands (57.3 inches, 145.6 cm)
  • {{hands|15.1|-|16.3}} → 15.1–16.3 hands (61–67 inches, 155–170 cm)
  • {{hands|14.2|to|16.1}} → 14.2 to 16.1 hands (58 to 65 inches, 147 to 165 cm)

If the 'range' format is used, the text in the second parameter (such as "to") can take any value you wish to use, such as 'and', 'to' or –. When the range has a hyphen/dash or comma, then some spaces are omitted.
