Halloween Haystacks

  • 1 1/2 quart popped popcorn 
  • 1 cup chow mein noodles 
  • 12 oz butterscotch pieces
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter


  1. Combine popped popcorn and chow mein noodles in large bowl.
  2. Melt butterscotch pieces over hot, not boiling water.
  3. Stirring constantly until smooth, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Blend in peanut butter.
  5. Pour mixture over the popcorn; stir to coat well.
  6. Drop by heaping tablespoon onto wax paper- lined pan.
  7. When firm, store in tightly covered container.
  8. Makes 2Microwave directions; pop microwave popcorn according to package directions.
  9. Mix with chow mein noodles in large bowl.
  10. In a 4-cup glass measure, combine butterscotch pieces and Peanut butter.
  11. Microwave on high 2 minutes or until soft.
  12. Stir until smooth.
  13. Pour over popcorn stir to coat well.
  14. Shape as above directions
