Candy Apples [1] [2] are North American treats for the holidays, especially prominent for Halloween.


  • chopped peanuts or pecans
  • 8 firm apples, such as Jonathan or Fuji
  • 8 popsicle sticks
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 12 oz box Red Hots cinnamon candy
  • few drops of red food coloring


  1. Boil a pot of water.
  2. Spray a cookie sheet to grease.
  3. Chopped nuts should be in a dipping bowl.
  4. Cleanse apples.
  5. Take stems out of apples and poke sticks in the bottoms of the apples.
  6. Quickly dip each apple in the boiling water, immediately dry.
  7. Combine sugar, 1/2 cup of water and syrup in a pan and set to boil.
  8. Cook sugar water to 250 degree F.
  9. Include in candy and cook to 285 degree F.
  10. Take off of heat, add in food colouring to desired shade of red.
  11. Quickly dip and twist each apple, then roll the bottom portion in the nuts.
  12. Place on cookie sheet and repeat until all apples are done.
  13. Leave to cool and harden.
