  1. Wash hands.
  2. Collect all ingredients and equipment.
  3. Heat oven to 350°F / 180°C.
  4. Combine molasses or brown sugar, vanilla, and water.
  5. Add egg yolk and mix well.
  6. Combine dry ingredients and add to egg mixture.
  7. Mix well (mixture should be dry and crumbly and looks like cornmeal).
  8. Form dough into balls using hands to combine.
  9. Roll dough into balls using hands to combine.
  10. Cut into bars 1" - 2½".
  11. Place on greased cookie sheet.
  12. Bake at 350°F / 180°C (moderate) for 15 minutes.
  13. Reduce heat to 140°F / 60°C.
  14. Leave in oven for another 20 minutes.
