Description

An alternate way to dress up potatoes. This recipe is based on a Hungarian recipe

Potatoes Paprikash

Ingredients

Procedures

  1. Put a few tablespoons of oil in a Dutch oven or large pan with a close fitting lid.
  2. Heat the oil and add the potatoes. Fry over medium heat while turning to brown.
  3. Add the onion and fry to soften
  4. Add the garlic. (Do not overcook the garlic)
  5. Liberally sprinkle with paprika
  6. Add a little thyme
  7. Add salt and pepper, pepper flakes and a little garlic powder
  8. Add some water to stop the frying process
  9. Add some tomatoes or tomato sauce
  10. Add some more water. (note the water will boil away during the cooking process and leave a nice rich sauce)
  11. Cover with a tight fitting lid
  12. Cook slowly on the stove top for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally
  13. Add a little water, as necessary, to keep the consistency of the sauce correct.
